Tossed salad and scrambled eggs...

A block up from the hostel in Seattle was the best cafe I've visited since we left Australia.  I snapped a bunch of probably-illegal photos of the art and poetry on the walls.  Among the posters for local events was this, which I wanted to attend for all the obvious reasons.  Dates didn't work out, such a pity.
Once I saw this, I knew I'd get along with this cafe.
The Liar was off to the institute of modern art, so the Skeptic and I headed up to the Seattle Center, to see what we could see.
I don't think I could get away with making a Seattle post without one shot of this.

The International Fountain.
What we could see turned out to be a great museum.  Modern music and science fiction? Yes please.  Not only was all of the subject matter of interest to us, but it was all very well curated.  The SF section ran through a history of SF, its progressions and side-genres.  The music section featured large exhibits on Hendrix, Northwestern music and featured a 'sound lab' where visitors could play and have lessons on various instruments.
They had a turtle, which was awesome.  Even if it was Donatello.
The range of SF props in the museum was astounding, given it's relatively small size.  We were particularly impressed with the range of Farscape stuff.  The only thing missing from their collection was anything Stargate.
That's a Scarran.  If that doesn't mean anything to you, we're not friends.
The music section was also fun, but we didn't see as much of it.  We spent most of our time in the soundlab, drumming and playing keyboards.
A sculpture made of instruments.
The special exhibit the museum had (and the reason we went into the place) was for Battlestar Galactica.
Viper
The way it was all put together was cool; the whole thing was based around comparisons.  The old series and the new, the difference between sentient robots and human life...
The Arrow of Apollo
Given the dual themes of the museum, it was appropriate that a whole section was given over to the music of Battlestar.  I was particularly interested to learn that the vocals used in the show were all sung in Sanscrit.  But I'm kind of a nerd like that.
Down on Elliot Bay
Later on the Skeptic and I went for a run down by Elliot Bay so we could get some good photos of the waterfront.  It almost made us late for our bus to the hockey.
We saw a fight!
There was another Ram brewery, which was lucky.  We met a local (who had moved from Buffalo, NY) who was a federal firearms instructor.  He bought us a couple of beers, gave us some tips on what to look for, and came to say hi during the game.

Ice-hockey is more fast-paced than American Football; we were lucky to cheer the Seattle Thunderbirds to victory over the Red Deer Rebels.

  1. I assume you are raising funds for a franchise for "this". I like that they accessorise, jewellery and shoes. Classy.
